filematrix is owned and operated as filematrix.com by McKim Tuohey Studio. MTS is a graphic design/website development firm operated by Merrily McKim Tuohey, Michael Tuohey and Associates. The studio was established in 1990 in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. The predecessor to filematrix was developed by MTS in answer to a client's need for a web-based file uploading program. The original application was based on the open source php script ATM, a file uploading and downloading solution. While ATM remains a good solution for file sharing as in music or game file sharing amongst like-minded fans, it lacked the security necessary for sensitive business file transfers. After several months and numerous modifications, MTS programmers rendered a new application: filematrix which addresses the need for businesses to transfer large files securely. The filematrix team recognized the need for complete security of users' sensitive material and the need for administrators to have a simple file transfer tool to offer their clients. Incorporation of the open source php class PclZip, a php class for server-side compression and inflation via the zip API leaves a framework for professionals unparalleled in browser-based file transfer managers. filematrix was introduced to the market in March of 2004 and is installed on websites across the world. Installations include photo processing plants, commercial printers and graphic designers. Some of these installations transfer hundreds of megabytes a day! filematrix clients receive great support. All installations of filematrix are performed by the filematrix team and are installed on our professional grade servers assuring proper function "out of the box".
